Operational Problems

A camera count does not define a useful CCTV system.

The design starts with the required view and response. These are common signs that the camera, recording or operating plan needs more than a product substitution.

VIEW-01

There are cameras, but the incident view is not useful

Recheck the monitoring objective, scene, lens, mounting position, lighting and field of view.

VIEW-02

Playback does not cover the required period

Review camera count, resolution, frame rate, recording mode, available storage and retention requirement.

VIEW-03

Operators cannot retrieve footage efficiently

Confirm naming, time settings, permissions, search workflow, export method and training needs.

VIEW-04

An access or alarm event has no matching video

Define which event should call, bookmark or associate with which camera and then test that sequence.

Camera positions and intended views coordinated against entrances, circulation, assets and other surveillance objectives.

Recording & Storage Basis

Camera quantity, resolution, frame rate, recording mode and retention inputs documented for storage planning.

CCTV-03

Device & Network Schedule

Camera, recorder, address, PoE, bandwidth and cabling information organised for installation and IT coordination.

CCTV-04

User & Event Configuration

User roles, recording behaviour, event actions and remote access configured within the approved operating scope.

CCTV-05

Commissioning Records

Live view, recording, playback, time, event, export and integration functions tested against the agreed requirements.

CCTV-06

Handover Package

As-built information, device schedules, configuration backup where supported, O&M inputs and operator training.

Integrated Security

Video becomes more useful when systems share the correct events.

Where the project calls for it, CCTV can be coordinated with card access, intrusion, visitor management and other building systems. The interface design and test sequence are defined for the actual products and project requirements.

Define the view before choosing the camera count.

Send the site or floor plan, monitoring objectives, required retention period, estimated camera count or existing equipment list, available network information, integration needs and target programme. For an existing system, include sample screenshots and the specific playback or operational problem.
